Have to work from home: Create your Home Office space!

No Home Office? No worries!

At this time, the new normal for most of us means working from home. If you find yourself in a space where productivity is not at its best, we have a few tips for creating a spot which you can call your home office!

First, FIND A PRIVATE SPOT

If you don’t have an actual room called office are home, the nest best this is to choose a low- traffic area in the houses to set up your workspace. It is always best to seat where you can see the door for that grounding feeling.

Then, SET THE STAGE

Your bed will definitely not do it as a new desk… If you don’t have a desk at home, set up a table and a comfortable chair. The key to working remotely is to mimic your office setup as closely as you can (only with the bonus of being at home.) Try to be as ergonomically aware as you can. Comfort and practicality are key. If something doesn’t feel right, try something else. Also add in a comfortable and cheerful piece such as a favorite pillow, a colorful image, a friendly photo or memorabilia to keep you motivated.

LIGHT IT UP

Position your desk so you are able to seat by a window. The natural light will will keep your mood elevated and it won’t create a glare on your screen. Add a task lamp for additional work lighting for when sunlight slips away.

AVOID CLUTTER

Clear away any clutter and keep your workspace minimal. The less distractions, the more productive you’ll be. Stick to only the essentials (laptop, notepad, cup of coffee) to curb any distractions.

ADD GREENERY

Nothing perks up a home office quicker than a little greenery right now! Whether its a beautiful orchid plant, a few tulips in a vase or a simple succulent plant. It will keep a small on your face and boost your inspiration.

TAKE A BREAK

If you can, get outside at least twice a day for some fresh air or a healthy snack and some fresh water. If not, at least open the window and don’t forget the snack! Also, schedule a break for stretching for 15 minutes, meditation or simply to FaceTime with family and friends.
