Color of the Year, Design for Fall - Part 1
We have welcomed the year 2021 with some good lessons, as much as we'd like to get past the craziness that was 2020. We've rekindled our passion for the outdoors, old hobbies, and our homes. As a result, there has been a visible transition in the interiors of our four walls - spaces have become an ideal and inspiring to live, work, and play.
The pandemic has influenced the way we approach and design our spaces in a variety of ways, including the creation of outdoor home offices and rethinking the open-concept plans with an abundance of natural elements.
Many of the predicted color trends for the year have been impacted by these reinvigorated passions for nature and constructing beautiful zones, as well as the ever-growing yearning for greater tranquility in our daily lives. Top hues are predicted to include earth tones, ocean-inspired blues, and forest greens. Bright and happy tones are also on the way, which is great news for interior designers and color fanatics.
Inspiring & Soothing Color Trends
It's no wonder that the color trends for 2021 continue to reflect our desire for a cozier, more cocooning ambiance. The use of jewel tones and rich colors is popular, and there's plenty of inspiration to be found in nature, with bright greens and brown tones. Grey, cream, and white aren't as prominent as they used to be. Instead, vivacious hues such as pinks and yellows are popular, and red has recently experienced a resurgence.
Vivid Green Tones
Nature has always been a source of inspiration. Hence, green is a major color theme this year. Olive greens, sage greens, and emerald greens are all the rage right now. They’re such a simple, adaptable tone to include in a decor. For a peaceful atmosphere, combine it with attractive natural textures and wooden accents.
Earthy and deeper colors are also prevalent. They're symbolic of sustainability, which is an even more essential lifestyle trend.
Blend of Warm Metallic with Bright Color Palettes
Metal finishes, the often overlooked ones when designing an interior layout, can make a huge impact on the aesthetic of a room. Besides the shine and texture, they virtually appear as colors. Fixtures, brassware, lighting, and furniture choices in this combination can change, equalize, or harmonize the overall character of a space.
Bold Tone Furnishings
Bright colors add a jolly and oomph factor to a space. Choosing vivid colors on furniture pieces is a charmer, even if going big on the walls is too much. This is a simple approach to make a statement without overwhelming the space with color.
A basic red is a tone that is now super trendy and will undoubtedly make a reappearance this year. It's bright, yet the clear crimson notes make it feel vintage, making it ageless in modern settings. If you're reluctant to include primary colors in your space, try rich terracotta or dark magenta. But, the bolder, the better if you really want to feel the exuberant energy this hue can bring.
Neutrals are Evergreen
This year's neutral trend persists in leaning towards warmer neutral stone tones. This style is all about creating warm interiors that seem cozy, welcoming, and familiar. Earthy, stonier tints, along with soft, soothing greens, are becoming increasingly popular as a soothing alternative to cooler palettes. These soft neutrals can be utilized in any room, imparting warmth as well as providing a stylish, harmonious backdrop for fabrics, wallpapers, and furniture of all types.
Dramatic Spaces with Electric Blue Tones
Blue is a timeless color. Therefore, it's no surprise that it's currently in vogue. However, while we're used to dark blues, navy, and blacks, the brighter end of the spectral range is making a rebound. Even modestly used, brilliant sky blues and striking cobalt add zest and creativeness to a place. Try out this color trend by simply painting your woodwork or shutters in a bold blue. It will have the same impact as taking it to the walls, but it will be more manageable.
