How Michelle Obama influenced the White House Interior Design

In a few days, the new president is moving into the White House. Traditionally, the first lady collaborates with an interior designer of her choice to add personal style to the living quarters. That means that after January 20th the Living quarters of in the White House are going to change!

Before that happens, let’s have a glimpse of how Michelle Obama redesigned the space her family has lived in for 8 years. To redesign the 2nd and 3rd floor, Michelle hired the renowned Interior Designer Michael S. Smith. She has put a more modern aesthetic imprint on the White House. The decor has been revamped with a collection of 20th-century artworks, among them Early Bloomer [Anagram (a Pun)] by Robert Rauschenberg (1998), Resurrection by Alma Thomas (1966), and Homage to the Square by Josef Albers (1966).

Below the photos, you will find that we have put together a Mood Board channeling the atmosphere of the Obama's Family Sitting Room so that you, too, can recreate this look in your own home!

Also, we will continue to keep watch on the White House interior design to see the upcoming style and changes to come!
