Painted walls or wallpaper, and why?

I love the transformative power of paint. Painted walls are easy to explain to clients because it is comparatively inexpensive to change wall color (as opposed to paper) and the process is so satisfyingly quick. I love bold, graphic, textured or metallic wallpapers for a luxe statement, but similar ideas can be expressed through clever paint effects where texture isn’t appropriate (or budget constraints demand modesty).
